DESCRIPTION

With pale skin and paler hair, Balthier’s appearance inspires fear and disgust more often than not. His pupiless grey eyes do nothing to make him seem more approachable, and his lips curl into an easy sneer. His build is slender, and he wears his leather armor comfortably. The military pistol resting in a low-slung holster is of high quality, and he easily boasts that he took it from a former officer whom he beat in a duel.

BACKGROUND

Balthier had the unpopular opinion that understanding arcane power might be the key to understanding why his people had been ripped from their world. Exiled for his research into the subject, he had to make his way in a harsh world with no love for his people. Between his sharp mind and glib tongue, he managed to secure an apprenticeship to learn the art of Gun Magic. His training barely complete, he hires himself out as a mercenary, all the while seeking arcane secrets that might pertain to restoring his people to their rightful home. If only so he can rub their faces in it.

PERSONALITY

He wears arrogance like a cloak, hiding nothing of the disdain he holds for his fellows. He claims to care nothing about the hostility others feel towards him because of his race. He cheerfully admits that he hates them right back, race notwithstanding. Alternately self-aggrandizing and self deprecating, he’s something of a paradox. It seems that only his competence with a gun prevents him from being cast out of his home guild, the Leatherskin Irregulars.
